Purpose Statement…
The purpose of Biblical Counseling is to provide Biblical knowledge and wisdom with a focus toward the future. God’s Word tells us how to handle past hurts, disappointments and sins. The Bible tells us how to leave the hurtful things of the past and press on to a better life.
Because we focus on Biblical Counseling, we believe our job is to equip individuals for the battles of life rather than to provide simple counseling. So, when we refer to our counselors as “Equippers,” that is a reflection of our desire to serve you in this capacity.
There is no charge for this service, but that does not indicate the value of the advice given. All of our counselors are trained and volunteer their time and talent because of the grace and mercy that they have received themselves. We have all been in tough places from time to time, and we sometimes need help. We are here to provide what we believe are God’s principles and answers to the problems of the world.
The focus of psychotherapy is to address the issues of the past, painful relationships, unconscious motivations, psychiatric illness, and seeks to help people move from a place of crisis to a more acceptable level of daily functioning.
Email vs. Chat…
BibleCounseling.org operates over email, rather than chat rooms. In other words, you simply send an email describing your question or problem. After prayer or research, one of our Equippers will send you back an in-depth answer, along with recommendations for further reading or study.
Online relationships can have a very real intensity and intimacy. Many people are better able to share thoughts and feelings over the Internet than face-to-face.
Privacy Policy…
The information that our Equippers (counselors) pass on to you is password-protected on our end. All sensitive information is behind a firewall on our secure server and our ISP. Although we cannot guarantee total security from today’s hacker, we diligently work to prevent such activity.
For your protection, we also keep a hard copy of all messages, and a supervisor reviews them periodically to ensure that our Equippers are following all of the guidelines to which they are held accountable. This is for your protection as well as theirs.
One further item… you do not have to provide personal information like your full name, address or other items that might make you feel uncomfortable. We are here to help you… not to make you feel ill at ease.
If you ever have any questions or comments about the process, feel free to contact the Administrator, Janet Chesser at janet@lrchouston.com.
Suicide Notification…
If you are struggling with suicidal thoughts, we want to help you through this extremely difficult time. However, it is our belief that a BibleCounseling Equipper alone cannot provide the support you need to regain hope. It is important for you to seek out the counsel and support of those nearest you.
